Trailer for The Jazz Loft According to W. Eugene Smith 

After an absence, the Jazz Loft film is available to stream on iTunes, Amazon and other major streaming services (distributor: Kino Lorber).

The 88 minute documentary film, written and directed by Fishko (inspired by Sam Stephenson’s book, The Jazz Loft Project: Photographs and Tapes of W. Eugene Smith from 821 Sixth Avenue, 1957-1965), premiered at the New Orleans Film Festival, went on to DOC NYC, Full Frame, Cleveland, Rotterdam, Buenos Aires etc.—and was released in theaters in 2016. The film draws on thousands of photographs, as well as audio tapes of music and conversation, all created by former LIFE Magazine photographer W. Eugene Smith while he was living and working in the so-called “Jazz Loft” at 821 Sixth Avenue between 28th and 29th Streets in New York.
